Welcome to WarMaps (“the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.
By downloading and using WarMaps, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
Location Data (Required)
• GPS coordinates during territory capture sessions
• Territory boundary coordinates you create
• Approximate location for the Radar feature (1km grid)
• City and country via reverse geocoding
Purpose: Core gameplay — capturing and displaying territories.
Game Center Data
• Your Game Center player ID (anonymous identifier)
• Display name you set in Game Center
Purpose: Player identification and leaderboards.
Gameplay Data
• Territories you capture (location, size, timestamp)
• Virtual currency balance and transactions
• Marketplace listings and purchases
• Game progress and achievements
Purpose: Game functionality and progression.
Purchase Data
• In-app purchase receipts (processed by Apple)
• Transaction history for virtual currency
Purpose: Processing purchases and preventing fraud.
Note: We never see or store your payment card information.
Device Information
• Device type and iOS version
• App version
• Push notification token (if enabled)
Purpose: App functionality and notifications.
Analytics Data (First-Party)
• App usage patterns (screens viewed, features used)
• Crash reports
• Performance data
Purpose: Improving the App.
Advertising Data (Optional Rewarded Ads)
• Ad impressions and interactions
• Device and advertising identifiers (subject to your consent)
Purpose: Serving and measuring optional rewarded ads via Google AdMob.
2A. Analytics Data Minimization
We configure analytics with data minimization. Gameplay telemetry is sent as coarse categories and ranges (for example, area or coin buckets) to measure balance, feature usage, and reliability. We do not send exact GPS routes, territory polygon coordinates, payment card details, or free-form player messages in analytics events.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
• Provide core gameplay (territory capture, map display)
• Process in-app purchases and virtual currency
• Display leaderboards and community features
• Send push notifications (with your permission)
• Improve the App and fix bugs (first-party analytics)
• Serve optional rewarded ads only when you choose to watch
• Prevent cheating and fraud
• Respond to support requests
• Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal data.
We do not share your exact location with other users.
We do not show forced or automatic pop-up ads.
Advertising and Tracking Choices
• Rewarded ads are optional and user-initiated.
• Google AdMob may process advertising data to deliver and measure ads.
• We request ATT permission before enabling IDFA-based personalization.
• If ATT is denied, tracking-based personalization is limited.
Radar Feature
The Radar feature shows how many players are actively capturing nearby.
What is shared:
• Approximate location (1 km² grid cell only)
• Country code
• That you are actively capturing
What is not shared:
• Your exact GPS coordinates
• Your name or identity
• Your territory locations
• Any personal information
Privacy protections:
• Grid-based system (1 km² cells, not exact location)
• Only shows aggregate counts (“3 players nearby”)
• Cannot identify individual players
• Session data auto-deletes after 1 hour
• Only active during capture sessions
By starting a capture session, you consent to this approximate location sharing.
Data Sharing
We share data only in these cases.
Public game data (visible to all players):
• Territory boundaries on the map
• Your Game Center display name
• Leaderboard rankings
• Marketplace listings
Service providers:
• Supabase (database hosting)
• Apple (Game Center, purchases, notifications)
• Firebase (analytics and crash reporting)
• Google AdMob (optional rewarded ads)
These providers process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality and their own privacy terms.
Legal requirements:
We may disclose data if required by law or to protect rights and safety.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
Data Security
We protect your data using:
• HTTPS encryption for all data transmission
• Secure cloud database with access controls
• Row-level security policies
• Automatic session expiration
• No storage of payment information
While we implement industry-standard security measures, no system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
Data Retention
We retain your data as follows:
• Territories: until you delete them
• Account data: while your account is active
• Radar sessions: auto-deleted after 1 hour
• Purchase history: 7 years (legal requirement)
• Analytics: 14 months
When you delete your account, we remove your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
• Access your data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your data
• Disable push notifications
• Request data portability
• Manage ad privacy and tracking choices
To exercise these rights:
Delete territories: Settings → Data → Delete All Data
Disable notifications: iOS Settings → Notifications
Ad privacy choices: Settings → Help → Ad Privacy Choices
Other requests: contact us via the App.
California Residents (CCPA)
You have the right to know what data we collect, request deletion, and opt out of sale (we do not sell data).
European Residents (GDPR)
Legal basis: consent (location), contract (gameplay), legitimate interest (analytics, security), consent or legitimate interest for optional ads depending on region.
Tracking Note
If you allow ATT permission, advertising identifiers may be used for ad personalization. You can change this in iOS Settings anytime.
Children’s Privacy
WarMaps is not intended for children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Parents: the App requires location services and contains in-app purchases. Please supervise your children’s use.
Third-Party Services
The App uses these third-party services:
• Apple Game Center — player authentication
• Apple StoreKit — in-app purchases
• Apple Push Notifications — notifications
• Apple Maps — map display
• Supabase — database and backend
• Firebase Analytics — usage analytics
• Firebase Crashlytics — crash reporting
• Google AdMob — optional rewarded ads
These services have their own privacy policies.
Changes to This Policy
We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time, with or without prior notice.
Changes will be effective immediately upon posting in the App. The “Last Updated” date will be revised accordingly.
Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Rewarded Ads and Tracking Choices
WarMaps may offer optional rewarded video ads. These ads are shown only when you tap the watch button. We do not show forced pop-up ads.

• We request ATT permission before using IDFA for personalized ads
• If ATT is denied, tracking-based personalization is limited
• You can manage choices in Settings → Help → Ad Privacy Choices
